Conference Planning and Involvement
Here are some conferences and meetings that I was involve in planning (big or small ways).
I am grateful for the many opportunities to be enaged in these acivities and I take pride and joy in bringing Healthcare Simulation content to educators!

International Meeting for Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH) 2016 San Diego, USA
The nomination for co-chairing IMSH came about December 2014. This is a very pleasant surprise but at the same time - fear. This would be the first time I am involved directly in planning an international meeting. My main worries were inability to contribute as much as my US counterparts and not able to identify relevant ideas due to the lack of global needs assessment - internationally. However, this is a valuable opportunity not to be missed. I had a wonderful experience working with some of the best individuals in healthcare simulation. This work has extensively improved my networking opportunities, ability to system think and weighing in on important matters that determine benefits to our attendees.
I have the pleasure of working with 3 wonderful individuals (there were more actually) - Christine Park, Jared Kutzin and Kathy Adams. For almost every week, we were on conference call (which was difficult as we need to establish a common time to dial in, across international time zone) and we had about 2 face-to-face meeting. The meetings were very essentials and important as we had less than a year to accomplish planning, straighten out conflict of interest matters, review abstracts and prepare notes for collaterals printing.
I am so glad that the meeting went really well and most importantly - well received by the attendees (we had some standing ovations for the main stage events)! Thinking back, I could improve my involvement by stating my shortcomings, making these known to my counterparts so that they can be prepared to bridge the gap. I will also want to improve on communicating openly about my thoughts. And how to present these thoughts in an honest but constructive manner.

Pan Asia Simulation Society in Healthcare (PASSH) Inaugural Conference 2015, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
As part of the founding team for the Pan Asia Simulation Society in Healthcare (PASSH), I have the pleasure to organize the society's inaugural conference together with a great team of simulation leaders in the Asia region. The executive committee saw through the entire planning and logistic process as we are a young society and seed funding is very minimal. As a starting effort in getting the conference going, all in the EXCO chipped in to play a planning role - abstract reviewing, programme book designing and compiling, registration portal, website management, ordering of collaterals and executing plans on actual conference days. We have a working partner, Taylor's University. We are very fortunate to gain very good working synergy with our partners. With the help of vendors sponsorship, cost for a major event like this was hugely defrayed.
The conference has benefited simulation educators and technicians across Asia from Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, India, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Brunei, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. Our Key note and plenary speakers are A/Prof. Paul Phrampus, A/Prof. Benjamin Berg, A/Prof. Michelle Kelly, Prof. Ismail Saiboon, Prof. Chung Hyun Soo and A/Prof. Chow Yu Fat.
I am glad that through this unique experience in organizing, partnership and working together, I have grown to take risks and to further manage financials for a regional events. More importantly, see the need for the region to grow together. Our next conference is planned for 2017 in the Philippines. And this time, will be a whole new experience for the society!

Asia Pacific Meeting for Simulation in Healthcare (APMSH) 2013, Shanghai, China
I was approached to co-chair the APMSH2013 in April 2012. I felt that I was ready to discuss the regional needs for simulation content. Somhow the operational mode for APMSH is unlike IMSH. We had weekly conference call every Thursday 8pm to 9pm (GMT+8). We had about 1.5 years of lead time to plan for APMSH and that felt like a marathon. There were 2 face-to-face meetings to sort out matters requiring close attention.
The APMSH calls for research abstract for poster presentation. But for workshops presentation, the nominations was through nominations and faculty pairing - USA and Asia based faculty were paired to plan and conduct workshops. Each workshop may have 3 to 6 faculty members, depending on the scale of activity.
Besides co-chairing duties, I was conducting 1 pre-conference workshop and 3 conference workshops.
I am very happy to be given this opportunity as I have made more friends in the region. Since my "appearance" in Shanghai, I have been invited back to Shanghai Eastern Hosptial to conduct TeamSTEPPS workshops for the hospital educators and staff members. The exposure has been very beneficial for my professional growth.
