Simulation Center Projects

I have been involved in designing, equipment projection, equipment specification writing, wrote justification paper for funding and space, commisioning, tender submission evaluation and tender award. I am privileged to have given the chance to work on the large scale projects - both involving academic institution and hospital based facility. Below are 4 facilities that I have played a major role in setting up.

The SKH campus is situated at the northeast region of Singapore island. The campus is under construction and will complete by 2018. The training facility is situated at basement 2 - a hospital protected vital facility that is used during national emergency state.

The facility will have 1 simulated OT, 1 ICU and 1 high dependency. There is also 1 general ward with 4 beds, and 1 paying class single room. There will be 3 allied health consult rooms and 2 medical consult rooms.

NUH Mrs. LKC Laboratory completed installation in August 2008. The official opening was organized on 26 May 2009 with press/media release (click to view).

The facility was installed with 1 unit of Laerdal SimMan3G, 2 units of Advanced ResusciAnne Skills Trainer and 1 unit of Airway Management Model.

The facility at JHS is now completed. As I no longer work for JHS, the photos displayed here are given by my colleagues who are working for JHS now. Some floor plans are shown.

The facility has a 4 simulated areas - 1 ICU, 1 OT, 1 ER and 1 general ward. There are 6 individual rooms dedicated for advanced life support training, a 6-bedded cubicle for basic cardiac life support and AED training and a 4-bedded nursing ward. There is also a wet skills laboratory consisting of 8 tables and a faculty table. All area has audio-visual and recording capabilities.

One of my duties at JHS was to furnish a justification paper for the training floor space and funding for training equipment. The paper was approved by the board of JHS and 7.1 million dollars was approved to complete the installation.

The Ngee Ann Polytechnic Patient Simulation Centre is completed in August 2004. The centre was built in time for our 1st batch of Diploma of Nursing students to use it for their final year advanced skills laboratory module.

The year 3 advanced skills module has 40 hours of simulation session integrated in the module. This was also the first attempt to integrate simulation in a clinical skills module in Singapore nursing school.

The facility was installed with 4 units of METI ECS, 2 units of Laerdal Airway Management Model, 8 units of NursingKelly with wound modules and Neonates/Infant model.
